One of the main transmission system operators in Central and Eastern Europe will present its upcoming projects to Australian companies from the oil & gas industry.
In November 2017, Gaz-System and the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) organized the „Focus on gas: linking Australia and Central & Eastern Europe” conference in Warsaw. The event attracted Australian and Polish organizations operating in the gas industry and provided an opportunity for Australian companies to learn about gas projects in Poland.
As a follow-up to the event, representatives of Gaz-System, including Mr Tomasz Stępień, CEO, are participating in the Australasian Oil & Gas Exhibition & Conference in Perth from 14 to 16 March. Mr Stępień’s presentation during the conference will provide details on future key investments and projects.
“We are delighted that Gaz System are travelling to Perth to meet with industry and speak at the Australasian Oil & Gas Conference. We believe there is potential for close cooperation between Australian and Central European companies”, said Anthony Weymouth, Austrade’s Senior Trade Commissioner based in Warsaw, Poland.
Currently, the company is conducting projects, that have the potential to change the gas market in Central and Eastern Europe. One of which is the Northern Gate concept. Its implementation will allow for a diversification of sources of gas supply, not only with respect to the Polish market, but also to Central and Eastern Europe and the Baltic states. It is primarily the Baltic Pipe Program that will enable the transmission of gas from the Norwegian shelf, up to 10 bcm annually. Gaz-System is implementing this project along with its Danish partner – Energinet.
Another key investment is the expansion of the President Lech Kaczyński LNG Terminal in Świnoujście, that includes: increasing regasification capacities from 5 bcm to 7.5 bcm of natural gas annually, establishment of the second quay providing embarking of LNG and bunkering of the vessels as well as construction of a railway siding.
“Our visit to Perth is a continuation of the cooperation with Austrade and Australian business and the next step in searching for innovative solutions for our projects. Our goal is to attract more Australian companies to work with Gaz-System, particularly in the field of LNG technology and construction of gas pipelines, including subsea pipelines. Australasian Oil & Gas Exhibition & Conference is a great opportunity for this” – said Tomasz Stępień, CEO of Gaz-System.
When implementing the undersea part of the Baltic Pipe project, Gaz-System will benefit from the engineering support and experience of Subsea Engineering Associates Pty Ltd (SEA), an Australian company based in Perth with a representative office in Poland.
“There is a large number of investment-related challenges we are going to face. We would like to invite Australian companies to collaborate with us. We encourage Australian companies to take part in tenders related both to the LNG terminal and the construction of the new gas pipelines. Gaz-System counts on the expertise and achievements of Australian companies as well as their participation in our projects”- underlined Tomasz Stępień.
