What goes on in Poland on the 8th of May.

A fund for strategic projects may be created at the Three Seas summit

During the GAZTERM 2018 conference under the patronage of BiznesAlert.pl, a representative of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland confirmed the information of our portal about the creation of a Three Seas fund for energy projects.

According to Witold Dzielski from the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, the last summit of the Three Seas in Warsaw was an enormous political success, among others due to US involvement and participation of President Donald Trump. – This showed people who were skeptical about this initiative that they would have to correct their views – he said.

At the same time, he stressed that Poland is active in the development of this initiative. He stressed that work is under way on the subject of the upcoming Three Seas summit planned for September in Bucharest. – We want one of the themes to be so-called priority projects that will be announced in Bucharest, which will receive some political support from the Presidents, but also from the governments of the Tricity countries.

Each country will propose five projects, from which we will select a group – said Dzielski. He also expressed the hope that during the summit within the framework of the Three Seas, a Business Council will be established, which will gather economic chambers of the Three Seas countries as well as partners from outside this group. He stressed that he counts on cooperation with private companies from the US, for whom there is a good climate. – We are still working on the character of this Council – he stressed. He confirmed that the subject of the Three Seas Fund, which would support these strategic projects, is seriously considered. – There is a chance that concretes will appear on Bucharest on the table – he said.

Expert warns: The scale of cyberattacks on the energy sector is growing

– Energy infrastructure is vulnerable to cyber attacks. Attacks are being installed all over the world – emphasized David Christopher Blanco from the AUTOSOL company during the US-Three Seas Gas Summit held as part of the GAZTERM 2018 conference. The media partner is BiznesAlert.pl.

– Recently, the number of cyberattacks on industrial and energy infrastructure in the United States increased by 110 percent. In the US there are systems for responding to cyber attacks in those companies that are most vulnerable to them. In 2015, 189 were recorded, and in 2016 as many as 700. The problem was so intensified that the US created a special cybersecurity team. This is the first warning – said the conference guest.

He emphasized that cyber attacks were used not only against the American infarstructure. In this context, he recalled the attack on the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline. – Then the attacking side closed one of the valves causing an increase in the pressure that led to the explosion. Warning signals were also blocked, so the operator did not know about the event. He learned about it only after 20 minutes. It was considered an accident, but it was only later realized that it was a hacker attack and that such events were of a terrorist nature – he said.
