Ristori: The US and the EU are ideal business partners when it comes to LNG
– The partnership between the European Union and the United States is perfectly matched. The EU needs to import more and more, and the US will export more and more, said Dominique Ristori, Director General of Energy for the European Commission, at the 11th European Economic Congress in Katowice.
At the very beginning, Ristori stressed that energy security is an absolute priority, and to achieve this, diversification is crucial: – The gas market is growing in Europe. At the same time, European gas resources are falling. Therefore, we are forced not only to diversify, but to increase imports in general – said the official.
He noted that the partnership between the European Union and the United States is perfectly matched: – The EU needs to import more and more, and the US will need to export more and more. This is of fundamental importance for the development of new energy units, such as those on the Croatian island of Krk or in Greece. We are not only talking about short-term contracts, but also long-term ones. At the meeting in Brussels, we talked with energy secretary Rick Perry, we agreed that the LNG market will be more and more competitive, more and more fluid and will completely change the current gas market – said Dominique Ristori.
