Poland is dropping coal-fired energy fast

PSE, the operator of the National Electricity System, reported that the percentage of hard coal in electricity production fell in November to 49.36 percent year-on-year.

According to PSE data, the percentage of hard coal in energy production in November fell to 49.36 percent year – on-year. 12 months ago it was 55.93 percent.

Other energy sources increased their participation in the energy mix. Gas-fired power plants provided 10.20 percent (6.53 percent in November 2022), wind farms 15.26 percent (8.28 percent in 2022), hydropower plants provided 1.90 percent (1.32 percent), while lignite-based ones accounted for 20.58 percent compared to 25.94 percent a year earlier.
