Naimski: Polish nuclear power plant in 2030 or 2031

Ministry of energy will have finished a project of energy policy strategy until 2040 by the end of this year – said Piotr Naimski.

The strategy points several energy sources that Poland will use between 2040 and 2050: it will be 50 per cent coal, 20 per cent of renewable energy sources and 20 per cent nuclear power.

– This is just a draft document. It will be finished by the end of this year – announced Naimski. He also stressed that „we will keep a dominant position of coal in Polish energy mix, we will also have emission-free sources”.

Minister Naimski was also asked, whether a stricter approach towards climate change would influence a full usage of Polish coal potential.

– We are in a European regime, which is difficult for Poland. It is contradictory to Polish interests – he pointed. He also said that Poland is „trying to negotiate conditions for the future as well as possible”

President Duda met the president of Georgia

Talks of presidents of Poland and Georgia – Andrzej Duda and Giorgi Margwelashvili – and later on delegations of both countries about cooperation in the field of security according to upcoming Polish term in the UN Security Council and realization of association agreement with the EU in a context of upcoming Eastern Partnership summit.

Poland is for an „open door” policy in the Community and supports Tbilisi’s aspiration for membership in NATO and in the EU.

– Today it is Polish interest, but in my opinion in the interest of whole Europe, first of all the European Union, to keep the door to the EU open – said president Andrzej Duda at a press conference.

The leaders also talked about frozen conflicts in Georgia. – It is another country of a widely understood post-soviet zone, on whose territory there are areas of frozen conflicts that destabilize the whole region of Eastern Europe – explained Krzysztof Szczerski.

Presidents of Poland and Georgia also talked about economic cooperation. Georgia is becoming Poland’s biggest trading partner in the Caucasus.
