The recent Russian attacks on Ukraine’s power grid did not cause any significant damage. Kyiv’s power generation received support from the surpluses produced by Polish wind turbines the day before.

Poles asked their neighbors to use the surplus energy produced by wind farms thanks to the windy weather. Part of the surplus went to Ukraine as part of the intervention sales.

„On the night of February 7, at the request of the Polish operator Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne, emergency assistance was provided to the system in Poland with a volume of 1,200 MW,” Ukrenergo reports. The press release says that these were not commercial deliveries, but an intervention in response to the excess capacity created in Poland by windy weather increasing the supply from wind farms at a time of minimal consumption at night.

„hanks to this, Ukraine received an additional amount of electricity,” concludes Ukrenergo, the Ukrainian counterpart of PSE.

Ukrenergo reports that Russia’s missile strikes on February 7, 2023, did not cause significant damage to the country’s electricity system.
