EU ETS: The European Parliament accepted the reform of climate policy
In the European Parliament the vote on changes in the EU system of trading in carbon dioxide emission rights (EU ETS) after 2020 was held on Tuesday. MEPs voted on changes.
The agreement on changes in EU ETS was accepted by the EP with 535 votes in favor, 104 against and 39 abstentions.
The project of changes assumes, among other things, doubling the volume of allowances by 2023, which will go to the so-called market stability reserve (MSR). At the same time, an increase was established from 1,74 percent up to 2,2 percent the so-called linear emission reduction coefficient, which means that the emission limit from 2021 will be reduced annually by 2.2 percent.
The draft agreement also assumes that the provision for new installations will create unused entitlements from the current period of 2013-2020 and 200 million allowances from MSR. At the same time, up to 200 million allowances may be returned to MSR, if not used in the period 2021-2030.
PSE will build a gas power plant. It is to stabilize the network
The government plenipotentiary responsible for the critical infrastructure reveals that the grid operator will build a gas power plant. It is to stabilize the transmission system.
– PSE will also build a block that will play a stabilizing role in the transmission system. Just as Gaz-System builds a gas warehouse in the amount necessary to maintain the reliability of the gas transmission system, PSE will build a gas block, probably in the northern part of Poland – informs in a conversation with BiznesAlert.pl the government plenipotentiary for strategic energy infrastructure Piotr Naimski.
