What goes on in Poland on the 20th of July.
Is there a problem with the extension of the gas pipeline to Ukraine?
We have a problem with the expansion of the Poland-Ukraine gas pipeline. On the Ukrainian side, a political decision is required. Only such a decision can open the way for the construction of a 110 km section of the gas pipeline – said the government plenipotentiary for strategic energy infrastructure Piotr Naimski during the session of the Sejm Energy and Treasury Committee.
Yesterday, a non-binding procedure to investigate the market’s interest in the capacity of the Poland-Ukraine gas connection has been successfully completed. Transmission system operators in Poland and Ukraine have noticed significant interest of market participants on the capacity on the Polish-Ukrainian border in both directions of the flow. In the direction of Poland and Ukraine, approximately 3,9 bcm, and in the opposite approx. 1,6 bcm.
The Poland-Ukraine gas pipeline
The project of the Poland-Ukraine Gas Pipeline involves the construction of a pipeline between the Hermanowice junction (on the Polish side) and Blicze-Wolica (on the Ukrainian side). The bus will increase the annual transmission capacity to 5 bcm by 2020, that is until the completion of the development of transmission infrastructure in Poland. The second stage of the project will give the opportunity to increase the volume to 8 bcm annually, its implementation depends on the interest of the market in this capacity.
The government will declassify the documents from negotiations on energy bridge to Kaliningrad
During the presentation of the findings of the Supreme Audit Office on the negotiations of gas contracts with Russia in 2010, the government plenipotentiary Piotr Naimski revealed that the next thread to investigate are negotiations in the electricity sector lead in parallel. Disclosure of documents on this subject is expected.
He also revealed that according to his information, former minister of economy Waldemar Pawlak was leading parallel negotiations on cooperation in the power industry with the Russian Federation. – Even the nearest officials were not sure what would be signed eventually – he said.
– Fortunately, these agreements have not been signed. This was alarmed by the president of PSE Kaprzyk in 2009. This is a matter for clarification. At the same time, the Ministry of Economy was conducting talks on two issues. The question arises whether they were related and what were the reasons for talks, for example, the energy bridge to the Kaliningrad District. There are many documents on this subject and they will be published successively – declared Naimski.
