Orlen focuses on gas in Ostrołęka. Will this project support offshore?

The construction of the Ostrołęka C Power Plant using gas technology would be an important step in the sustainable energy transformation of Poland – said PKN Orlen CEO Daniel Obajtek on one of the social networks. He added that the strategy of the Płock company concerns the development of low and zero carbon energy sources.

Daniel Obajtek wrote that the great flexibility of low-emission gas powers makes them an important complement to renewable energy. Ostrołęka C power plant in gas technology will allow for effective balancing of both these sources – he said. He noted that it would also be an important step in the sustainable energy transition of Poland.

Gazprom reduces supplies via the Yamal Pipeline. It starts to lose against LNG

Kommersant reports that the Russians have reduced supplies through the Yamal Gas Pipeline in Poland due to a decrease in demand in Europe. If the trend continues, they will face a drop in price, and thus revenues, as well as a loss of the market in favor of competition in the form of LNG.

– After the termination of the long-term contract for the transmission of Russian gas through Poland, Gazprom has significantly reduced the volume of supply through the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline. This strategy can be a way to reduce costs in the face of a record drop in gas demand and prices in Europe – says Kommersant. The newspaper has calculated that the price of Gazprom gas may fall below USD 100 per 1000 cubic meters in 2020, and its share in the European market may fall from 39 to 34 percent.
