Protests in coal mines. Government delegation is going to Silesia

„Sierpień ’80” trade union informs about underground protests in the mines in Ruda Śląska: Wujek, Bielszowice, Halemba and Pokój. – The protest underground is the most radical, dangerous and risky for the protesting miners. It was taken at four mines, which proves the great determination of these people. It’s a fight for everything – says the spokesman of the trade union Sierpień ’80 Patryk Kosela on Twitter.

Trade unions gave the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland one week to September 21 for talks on the reform of the energy and mining sectors, because they reject the results of negotiations with the participation of the Ministry of State Assets. Unofficial information about the reform suggested that the above mines would be closed as part of the reform.

Government spokesman Piotr Müller discussed the miners’ protests in the Polsat program entitled „Gość Wiadomości”. According to him, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki will not go to Silesia. – The head of the Prime Minister’s political cabinet, Krzysztof Kubów, and the deputy head of the Ministry of State Assets, Artur Soboń, will go to Silesia this week. They will hold talks with striking miners, he admitted in an interview with Polsat.

He noted that the restructuring of the mine would take years, but would bring tangible benefits. – The point is that if mines are restructured, over the years, we are talking about a several-year process, at the same time guaranteeing new investments in Silesia, new technologies that will guarantee attractive jobs in Silesia – added the government spokesman in an interview with Polsat.
