Who will Orlen let into the Gdańsk Refinery? Negotiations may take a long time
Orlen does not yet know who will help the company manage the Gdańsk Refinery after the merger with Lotos, which is the current owner of the facility. Talks on this topic may take longer than expected.
The CEO of PKN Orlen, Daniel Obajtek, appeared in the Jedynka Polish Radio where he said that the exact date of announcing a partner for the merger with Grupa Lotos will be negotiated and it is possible that Orlen will “take a little longer” to make that decision.
The head of Orlen reminded that the remedial measures recommended by the European Commission as a condition for consent to the merger include the sale of 30 percent of shares in the company that will later manage the Gdańsk Refinery. Unofficially, it might be Saudi Aramco or Hungary’s MOL.
MAP wants to talk about a social agreement with the lignite sector
The Ministry of State Assets (MAP) wants to start negotiations on social agreements for the energy and lignite sector next week, Deputy Minister of State Assets Artur Soboń said in an interview with ISBNews.
„I would like to start negotiations on energy and hard coal mining as early as next week, and to work out social agreements for these two industries,” Soboń said. The Ministry of State Assets has already prepared a preliminary project to separate conventional energy assets and lignite mines into a separate entity. „Today we are starting consultations on this program and I can assure you that the social side of the energy and hard coal mining industry will have a partner in me. We want to do it in such a way as to sign an agreement similar to the one signed today, also for the energy sector and lignite mining,” – Soboń explained during a press conference after signing the agreement.
