Poland argues there is a legal basis for the EC’s second antitrust investigation against Gazprom
The Minister of Climate and Environment visited Brussels at the European Council summit and again appealed to the European Commission for a second antitrust investigation against Russian Gazprom, which she accuses of manipulating gas supply on the continent in order to force Nord Stream 2.
– The current increase in gas prices on European markets is unprecedented. This situation is largely due to the actions of Gazprom. In an interview with the EU Commissioner Kadri Simson, I once again called for more decisive measures to curb these practices, informs the Minister of Climate and Environment Anna Moskwa.
Moscow told Polish Radio that it demands an immediate investigation against Gazprom. – In our opinion, there are legal arguments allowing this procedure to start – she added.
An anti-monopoly investigation against Gazprom has already been carried out in the past, but a settlement has ended, which, according to Poland, has not changed the company’s behavior. In the face of the energy crisis, the Russians are accused of deliberately limiting gas supply in Europe in order to force the commencement of supplies through the disputed Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
Synthos will order ten reactors. First in 2029, then the entire supply chain
Synthos Green Energy has concluded further agreements to accelerate preparations for the construction of the first small SMR nuclear reactor in Poland and to build the entire supply chain around ten such reactors.
Michał Sołowow’s company continues its march towards a small SMR atom. He invited two Canadian companies to work together to prepare the supply chain for the power plant with BWRX-300 reactors.
Synthos Green Energy already has a technology agreement with the American GE Hitachi Nucler Energy. It has now signed a trilateral agreement with Hitachi and nuclear power plant component manufacturer BWXT Canada, and a bilateral agreement with Ontario Power Generation to build the first BWRX-300 reactor, ready by 2028.
The letter of intent signed on December 15 with BWXT Canada provides for the construction of a small nuclear supply chain in Poland, the USA and Canada. It assumes that Synthos Green Energy will order at least ten BWRX-300 reactors for sale on the European market. BWXT is to make some of the components, including the reactor pressure vessel.
