What goes on in Poland on the 7th of January.

The Polish ambassador to the Czech Republic will be dismissed for his comments about the dispute over Turów

The Polish ambassador to the Czech Republic, Mirosław Jasiński, assessed in Deutsche Welle that the Polish side showed a lack of empathy and will during the dispute over the Turów Mine. The Prime Minister decided to dismiss him, although he himself nominated him several days ago.

„So let’s be honest and admit that the reason for the dispute was, however, the arrogance of certain people. Mainly from the mine’s management. Then there is the PGE management, and light years later the ministries and the prime minister,” said Jasiński, quoted by Deutsche Welle. „A person who represents Poland abroad should be expected to first gain knowledge and learn facts when speaking on such key issues as Turów. Unreflective duplication of a foreign narrative is detrimental to the interests of Poland,” assessed the Minister of State Assets Jacek Sasin.

The procedure of dismissing the Polish ambassador to the Czech Republic started on January 6.

Trade unions are threatening to block coal supplies indefinitely before the next round of talks with the government

Due to the lack of a wage agreement in Polska Grupa Górnicza, the trade unions at this company announced a two-day strike referendum next week and a blockade of coal shipments to power plants from January 17 until further notice. Talks with the government will take place earlier.

„The blockades of the shipment of coal from the mines to power plants, which have been ongoing since January 4, will end as planned, on January 6 at 7 a.m. On January 10, we have a meeting with the PGG management board and a mediator. On January 11, we will conduct information sessions in the mines, and for the next two days we will conduct a strike referendum among PGG mine crews,” informed Bogusław Hutek, chairman of the Mining Solidarity trade union and head of “S” at PGG. „From January 17, coal shipments to power plants from all PGG mines will be blocked. It will last until further notice,” added Hutek quoted by Solidarity.
