What goes on in Poland on the 14th of April.
LNG from Lithuania can reach Ukraine via Poland
The presidents of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia are visiting Kyiv, and in the meantime, discussions are underway on supplying liquefied gas from Klaipeda via Poland to Ukraine.
The Klaipeda Daily reports that Poland’s PGNiG could deliver LNG reaching the FSRU floating terminal in Klaipeda via the Poland-Lithuania gas pipeline and a gas connection with Ukraine to this country, which is still under Russian attack.
The daily reminds that Poles from Gaz-System and Lithuanians from Amber Grid intend to start deliveries via GIPL in an accelerated mode, allowing imports to the south of up to two billion cubic meters annually from May 2022. The Klaipeda Daily reminds that the gas connection with Ukraine currently has a capacity of 1.5 billion cubic meters annually. It is worth adding that the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland suggested the possibility of building a new connection in the form of the Poland-Ukraine gas pipeline.
Will there be a new border crisis?
On April 12, 2022, a group of 13 foreigners tried to illegally enter the territory of Poland. Among them were the citizens of Tajikistan, Yemen and Syria. There was news on social media about an unconscious Yemeni who was not allowed to enter Poland. The Border Guard has since commented on these reports.
This week, activists published information about the situation on the border with Belarus. They wrote about a Yemeni who was lying unconscious and waited for the help of the Polish Border Guard. The case was commented on by the Border Guard. „Yesterday, activists again published unverified and unconfirmed information, accusing the Border Guard of failing to provide help to those in need, which aggravated the unjustified attacks on officers,” writes the Border Guard on Twitter.
„The Border Guard have the right tools to take effective action, not necessarily in front of the cameras,” the Guard’s twitter account said.
On Tuesday, April 12, after the intervention and at the request of the Border Guard, the Belarusian border services reacted and took a group of foreigners on their side. „According to the location data sent, it appears that among these people was probably a Yemeni citizen,” the Guard said.
