Von der Leyen appeals to Poland to accelerate the energy transition

The head of the European Commission (EC) responded to the energy resolution adopted in Silesia and signed on April 22 this year in Katowice. – The reduction in overall demand for fossil fuels must be done in a consistent and forward-looking manner. The European Green Deal and Fit for 55 package are leading us in this direction, but we need to accelerate the clean energy transition, the release reads.

The Energy Resolution 2022 was signed on April 22, 2022 in Katowice during the Silesia 2030 conference organized on the initiative of MEP Grzegorz Tobiszowski. The postulates mentioned in the resolution included: quick independence from Russian oil and gas, reform of the EU emissions trading system (ETS) and investment in technologies to use coal as a transition fuel in transformation. It called for a revision of the current EU climate policy to build energy security and the stability of the EU energy market.

The Bogdanka mine did not increase its production, now its head may be dismissed

The Minister of State Assets Jacek Sasin spoke with the president of the Enea Group, Paweł Majewski. The topics included the future of the president of Bogdanka Mine. During the Supervisory Board meeting of LW Bogdanka (Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka), which will be held on Friday, September 16, the motion to dismiss President Artur Wasil will be considered. The plant has not increased its production so far.

Bogdanka’s president has run the plant for a second term, and he started another in June this year. The plant is part of the Enea Group. LW Bogdanka has recently announced that due to unforeseen circumstances, the mine has to lower its production targets for this year to approximately 8.3 million tons of commercial coal. The earlier threshold was 9.3 million tons, while in 2021 it was around 10 million tons.
