Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev has warned of a radioactive cloud over Poland that does not exist.

Patrushev said at a meeting in Syktyvkar, Russia, that radiation levels in Poland were rising because a radioactive cloud was coming over Europe, created as a result of Ukraine’s use of uranium-enriched ammunition.

The Polish National Atomic Energy Agency (PAA) had already denounced this news, which had emerged on the web before Patrushev’s speech. Earlier, it had been suggested that the radioactive contamination comes from the Khmelnitsky Nuclear Power Plant, from which Poland buys power through a new power bridge launched in May.

„This is another information operation of the Russian special services designed to destabilize Poland and intimidate Poles. The radiation situation in Poland is stable and safe. The threat monitoring system is provided by the PAA,” explained Stanisław Żaryn, the Government’s Plenipotentiary for Security of Information Space.
