The market research on the FSRU in the Gulf of Gdańsk has revealed such a huge interest that another one will be launched, perhaps leading to a third LNG terminal in Poland.

Poland already has a regular LNG terminal in Świnoujście. The open season market study for the FSRU terminal, commonly known as a floating LNG port, ended with the receipt of an offer for 100 percent of the regasification services of the full capacity of 6.1 billion cubic meters in the second phase.

„The results of the non-binding procedure to identify the demand for additional regasification capacity of the FSRU Terminal in the Gulf of Gdańsk conducted by GAZ-SYSTEM in March 2023 showed significant interest of the market participants in increasing the regasification capacity of the FSRU Terminal and gas exports in the region, therefore a decision was made to launch a binding Open Season procedure for FSRU 2,” Gaz-System informed.

For this reason, the company is to launch another open season procedure for FSRU 2 with a capacity of 4.5 billion cubic meters a year. The market interest would therefore justify the installation of a second floating vessel, of which BiznesAlert.pl was first to report. Our portal was the first to inform in spring 2022 about Polish neighbors being interested in LNG power – Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary, as well as Ukraine.
