Polish Briefing: Nobody doubts that energy should be transformed

What goes on in Poland on the 2nd of October.

The direction of changes in the energy sector

– The tools used for energy transition are changing all the time. The pace of changes is quite good today and there is no doubt that energy should be heading in this direction – said Deputy Minister of Energy Adam Gawęda at the New Industry Congress.

– There is no area in the economy that would not undergo transformation, energy is no exception. Transformation processes should strive to improve air quality, we want to leave the environment in good condition for future generations. However, we work under certain conditions. Obsolete units emit a lot of pollution, they should be eliminated as soon as possible. However, you have to look for capital for new investments – said Adam Gawęda.

– The changes are already visible – blocks 5 and 6 of the Opole Power Plant are practically already in operation, those are very efficient units. We want to accelerate investment processes related to offshore wind energy, which will be cheap and efficient. We also want to introduce units based on mining methane and gas into the system. We have ambitious plans to introduce new technologies based on fossil fuels, for example coal gasification. We have launched the “My Electricity” program dedicated to prosumers – said the Deputy Minister of Energy.
