„Everyone wants the first nuclear power plant in Poland to be built on time, Paulina Hennig-Kloska talked about this with Patrick Fragman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Westinghouse Electric Company, the supplier of American technology for the first Polish nuclear power plant. The meeting took place on 10 April 2024 at the headquarters of the ministry,” the Ministry said in a statement.

Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska made it clear that the new administration was fully committed to the energy transition, with nuclear energy identified as a key element of this process and a key component of Poland’s future energy mix. It is also important that the project to build the first nuclear power plant in Poland is carried out as planned. Issues related to the development of competencies and human resources in the field of nuclear energy in Poland, as well as the involvement of domestic industry in this project, were also discussed.

The Polish government expects Polish companies to be broadly involved in the implementation of the nuclear power plant construction project, in accordance with their experience and competence. This will create a new industry sector in Poland that will provide new jobs,” Climate and Environment Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska said.

Poland sees the project of building a nuclear power plant as an opportunity for the development and expansion of Polish industry, both based on participation in the Polish project and further entry into the global supply chains for the nuclear industry,” she added.

As part of the „Polish Nuclear Power Programme”, the first power plant with three reactors in the American AP1000 technology will be built by a consortium of companies – Westinghouse and Bechtel in the location of Lubiatowo-Kopalino in Pomerania.
