During the Baltic Nuclear Energy Forum in Gdańsk Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Climate and Environment Miłosz Motyka explained the schedule of the Polish Nuclear Energy Program (PPEJ). „The update of the Polish Nuclear Energy Program (PPEJ) is expected by the end of this year,” he said.
„The update of the Polish Nuclear Energy Programme (PPEJ) is expected by the end of this year. By June last year, the energy and climate project was to be updated. This program has already been updated by us, which means that we have done more than our predecessors in several months. Currently, the next step is to update the state’s energy policy and nuclear program, which will take place later this year,” Motyka promised.
Polish Energy Policy Until 2040 aims to develop nuclear energy within the framework of which it is planned to build from 6 to 9 GWe of installed capacity based on proven water pressure reactors technologies of Generation III and III+. Construction of the first reactor is scheduled to begin in 2026, with the first start-up expected in 2033. The entire project is expected to end in 2043 with the commissioning of the last of the reactors, which is part of Poland’s long-term strategy aimed at diversifying energy sources and increasing the country’s energy security.
