Polish Briefing: Cyberspace Defense Forces have been created

What goes on in Poland on the 6th of February.

Błaszczak: We create a cybercomponent of the Territorial Defense Forces

During the conference “Cyber.mil.pl – Integration and development of the cybersecurity system of the Ministry of National Defense” Mariusz Blaszczak, the Minister of National Defense presented the concept of construction of cyberspace defense forces and a package of activities related to the development of the defense of the national defense in the field of cyber security. During the conference, a plenipotentiary for the creation of Cyberspace defense forces was appointed – Colonel Karol Molenda.

Cyberspace Defense Forces

– Col. Molenda is a professional who I entrusted with the task of counteracting threats in cyberspace. During the NATO summit in 2016, provisions were made that changed the history of Poland and our part of Europe. Back then, cyberspace was defined as a sphere of military activities. We are an active member of NATO, we fulfill our commitments – said the Minister of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak. He added that security is one of the main priorities of the government, but to achieve this goal, consistency is needed: – It is time to present a cyberplan. In addition to appointing a representative, we create a new structure. In order for it to function well, people who will create cyberspace troops are needed. Science is the environment from which they will come. The Military University of Technology is the key institution here. In addition, a special technical high school will also be created. The best should have the opportunity to develop their skills in cyberspace. The Territorial Defense Forces are developing very well. We create their cybercomponent. This is an important day, we show that Poland is becoming more secure – said Minister Blaszczak.

Team of the Ministry of National Defense

Last year, at the order of Minister Mariusz Blaszczak, a team was set up in the ministry, whose task was to analyze the activities carried out by various institutions of the national defense department related to IT, teleinformation and cybersecurity. The goal of the team’s work was to develop recommendations for strengthening the potential and streamlining processes in these areas. At the same time, in-depth ICT security audits and tests were conducted.
