The EU-Ukraine Tech Summit, organised by London PR Lab and hosted at Google for Startups Campus in Warsaw on 18 November, gathered Ukrainian startup founders, European investors, and global industry experts. This pivotal event highlighted the resilience and creativity of Ukrainian startups, navigating the challenges of war and accelerating their integration into the European tech ecosystem.
At the EU-Ukraine Tech Summit, held in Warsaw on November 18, 2024, international industry experts discussed governance, implementation of artificial intelligence, ways to raise funding, and explored how Ukrainian start-ups can navigate EU markets, focusing on regulatory frameworks, strategic partnerships and innovation-driven growth.
Strategic support
Michal Kramarz, Head of Google for Startups CEE, and Tymon Kokoszka, Global Go-to-Market Manager of Google for Startups, talked about the Ukraine Support Fund: “Since the beginning of the devastating war in Ukraine, Google has committed more than $45 million in cash and $7 million in kind to support humanitarian efforts for people in Ukraine and those fleeing the war.
In March 2022, we launched the Google Support Fund for Startups in Ukraine, which provided $5 million in cash awards to 58 recipients without equity.”
Natalia Mykolska, executive director of Diia.City United, stressed the importance of conferences such as the EU-Ukraine Tech Summit: “The Ukrainian ecosystem has shown resilience since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. What’s more, it is actively growing, including by joining together in technology business unions such as Diia.City United. In order for Ukrainian startups to continue to grow, it is very important to participate in such events, raising capital through investments and grants, especially from strategic foreign investors.
Fast and efficient
The summit emphasized practical advice for start-ups, including the importance of networking, operational agility and researching EU funding opportunities.
Andrii Lytvyn, Chief Business Development Officer at the IT Ukraine Association, stressed the crucial importance of international dialogue in shaping a strong and inclusive technology ecosystem: – For the IT Ukraine Association, such platforms are essential to promoting Ukrainian innovation, attracting global partnerships and strengthening our country’s role as a key contributor to the international technology landscape.
The main standout elements of the summit were the fast-paced meetings and pitching sessions between startups and European investors. This format fostered valuable contacts, funding opportunities and demonstrated the readiness of Ukrainian startups for global expansion.
Vladyslav Bazikalov, CEO and founder of London PR Lab and EU-Ukraine Tech Summit, concluded: “Our event is a testament to the power of cooperation in the EU and Ukrainian ecosystems and the incredible potential of Ukrainian startups to make big changes in the tech industry. Together, we are paving the way to a brighter, technology-driven future.
We will continue to provide our media platforms and solutions to unite startup founders, investors and industry experts within international technology ecosystems.”
