Gaz-System has completed the construction of Zdzieszowice-Kędzierzyn-Koźle gas pipeline

On 17 January 2020, the final acceptance of Zdzieszowice – Kędzierzyn-Koźle gas pipeline took place. It is the first of the strategic gas pipelines in GAZ-SYSTEM Branch in Świerklany, the construction of which has already been completed.

The Zdzieszowice – Kędzierzyn-Koźle gas pipeline is an important system connection of the following pipelines under construction: Zdzieszowice – Wrocław and Tworóg – Kędzierzyn-Koźle in Opolskie Province. It is part of the North-South Gas Corridor. Within this investment, we have commissioned three pipelines: Lwówek – Odolanów, Czeszów – Wierzchowice and Czeszów – Kiełczów.

– Commissioning was planned for 14 February according to the schedule. As a result of obtaining all the permits and completing the works before the deadline, we were able to have the gas pipeline commissioned already in January this year. It took less than two years to build the pipeline – said Artur Zawartko, the Vice-President of GAZ-SYSTEM.

Under this project, the following was implemented:

1. A gas pipeline with 1000 mm diameter, 8.4 MPa pressure and 17.3 km length;
2. A fibre-optic line along the pipeline;
3. A system reduction and measurement station (SRMS), Kędzierzyn Las with capacity of 150,000 m3/h;
4. Two “block and bleed” systems: Kędzierzyn Las and Leśnica;
5. An access road to the SRMS Kędzierzyn Las, 900 m long and 7 m wide, including water and sewage
connections for the needs of the Kędzierzyn Compressor Station under construction.

On the gas pipeline route, GAZ-SYSTEM overcame 15 field obstacles using trenchless methods, such as the Gliwicki Channel in Kędzierzyn-Koźle, by means of Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD). 806 m long, it was the longest drilling carried out within the strategic gas pipelines under construction in the Świerklany Branch.
