On Monday, former Minister of State Assets Jacek Sasin, during an interview with reporters, expressed confidence that the conflict between Westinghouse and KHNP over the technology used to build the reactor will be avoided.

The Polish Press Agency (PAP) reports that during an interview with Polsat, Jacek Sasin referred to the words of Grzegorz Onichimowski, who stated that the dispute between Westinghouse and KHNP could block the construction of the Polish nuclear power plant. According to the former minister, this conflict will be solved, and the companies will reach a consensus. He also sees no reason to discontinue the Polish project. He believes that the dispute and the nuclear power plant are used politically.

„The politicians of the Civic Platform will pick holes in anything, they will look for a pretext to stop investments in nuclear power plants. Not just this one, as there are also rumors about the other, large NPP in Choczewo in Pomerania that will be built on the basis of an agreement between the government and Americans,” PAP quoted the former minister.

The dispute between the American Westinghouse and the Korean KHNP concerns the South Korean technology. According to the Americans, the transfer of APR1400 reactor technology requires the approval of the US government, the technological solution comes from Combustion Egineering, which was acquired by Westinghouse. The conflict went to an American court, which rejected the lawsuit of the American company, but the firm promised to appeal the ruling.

Both companies compete not only in Poland, but also in the Czech Republic, among others, for a contract for the expansion of the Dukovany nuclear power plant.
