Poland invests in offshore wind farms

Poland wants renewable energy sources, in particular offshore wind farms, to be the basis of energy. The value of investments in offshore may amount to even PLN 100 billion – said Jerzy Kwieciński, Minister of Finance, Investment and Development.

In the development of investments in renewable energy, Poland wants to take advantage of the experience and technology of the American company GE. – We want the cooperation to concern not only large projects, but also with small and medium-sized companies in Poland. Wind energy is a special area in renewable energy. We do not hide that we want to develop it, in particular offshore wind energy. We see that in the offshore area Polish companies are strengthening cooperation among themselves, for example PGE and PKN Orlen. Construction is on a massive scale. It can make a significant contribution to our energy mix but also in investments. The Polish offshore project may cost PLN 100 billion – he said.
