Polish Briefing: Traveling via the New Central Polish Airport should be a pleasure

What goes on in Poland on the 15th of October.

LOT Polish Airlines connections

– LOT Polish Airlines must continue to invest in its development and earn on connections. We need to develop a reasonable network of connections in a disciplined manner. New Central Polish Airport (CPK) will be something on a completely different scale; we will have to plan a surge in connections before it opens, but this can be done. The most important thing is that the built port is our competitive advantage – said the president of PLL LOT Rafał Milczarski during the Kongres 590 conference in Rzeszów.

Don’t overinvest

– We have to make sure that this port is really good, that is, that the transfer is really easy and that the procedures do not significantly limit the passenger. It is important not to overdo the scale, as was the case with the Istanbul interchange port. It is crucial to plan this port properly and learn from the mistakes of neighbors, for example from Berlin airport – said Milczarski.

Hub in Budapest

– We can no longer grow at Warsaw Chopin Airport, which is not able to accept more traffic and more slots. That is why we invest in our hub in Budapest. We want this hub to be roughly as large as the Warsaw hub in 2015 in 2025. What we are building in Budapest will stay there; regardless of this, CPK is to become the largest hub of Central and Eastern Europe. We are the most developed airline in Central Europe, flights with us in the region are the most convenient. In Western Europe, the capacity of airspace and airports is slowly running low – he noted.

Passenger comfort

– We will be a good place for flights from directions such as China, India and Malaysia. We don’t want to take business from anyone; this business will simply grow because the economy is growing. We want passengers to have a good experience, for example, never lose luggage. It’s a matter of complicated systems that raise baggage handling to the highest level – CPK is also an intermodal project; it is not about air connections from Krakow to CPK. Passengers from Krakow should commute to intercontinental flights to CPK. We want the passenger flying from Krakow to hand over his suitcase on the train to CPK and pick it up, for example in Sydney. I dream about CPK knowing who a given person is, to facilitate their passport or personal control, to make travel a pleasure for him – ended Rafał Milczarski, the President of PLL LOT.
