Open Season for Baltic Pipe will show if there is demand for Norway’s gas

On 6 June Gaz-System and Energinet.dk will start an open season procedure for the Baltic Pipeline. The gas pipeline is one of the elements of the Northern Gateway, which could connect Poland with Norway’s gas deposits, and thus offer Central and Eastern Europe a potentially economically attractive alternative to Russian gas.

„I am satisfied with the news that the Polish and Dutch gas system operators agreed on the rules of cooperation for the Baltic Pipe project that also encompass the open season procedure. I hope that the market will confirm its interest in creating infrastructure that enables gas transmission from Norway’s deposits to Poland,” said Piotr Naimski, Government Plenipotentiary for Strategic Energy Infrastructure in an interview with BiznesAlert.pl.

BiznesAlert.pl has reported that the open season procedure could be started before June 3rd. The information released by Gaz-System confirmed this news. The Danish gas system operator Energinet.dk, the Polish Gaz-System counterpart, released the same statement as well.
