Jakóbik: Germans pressed pause on Nord Stream 2

It looks like the Germans got scared of the impending US sanctions against Nord Stream 2. They are suspending the construction of infrastructure, which was supposed to distribute gas from the pipeline, writes Wojciech Jakóbik, editor in chief of Biznesalert.pl. 

Juncker: EU may respond to US sanctions

The President of the European Commission, Jean Claude Juncker, said that if the new US sanctions against Russia impact the European Union’s energy security, Brussels was ready to respond in a few days and present its own reply to the restrictions.

PGE and Enea are starting planned renovations in Poland’s biggest coal-fired power plants

According to Reuters, in order to conduct renovations PGE will shut down one of its 858 MW units in Poland’s biggest hard coal-fired power plant in Bełchatów. Similar works are taking place in the Kozienice power plant managed by Enea, where one of the units is being renovated. PSE, the Polish grid operator, ensured that the renovations have been pre-planned and the system was safe.

A conference on Orlen’s performance in the second quarter of the year was held at the premises of the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The company recorded growth in all sales segments. The concern achieved a record-breaking LIFO-based EBITDA at PLN 3.1 billion, an increase by PLN 0.5 billion year on year.
