Orlen Synthos Green Energy plans to import electricity from Ukraine to stabilise domestic supplies, PKN Orlen has announced.

According to a Monday press release from Orlen, the investment will help strengthen Poland’s energy security and improve Ukraine’s economic situation.

The imports, that would come from the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant, would contribute to satisfying domestic industry’s demand for energy and reduce Poland’s dependence on hydrocarbons, the statement said.

Orlen Synthos Green Energy is a joint venture set up by Poland’s largest oil and gas company, PKN Orlen, and the Synthos chemicals group.
