A new gas deposit of Orlen and PGNiG in Wielkopolska

PKN Orlen and PGNiG, have discovered a new gas deposit in Wielkopolska. Results of a production test confirm a very good production rate of the well. Production potential of the deposit was estimated at 50 million m3 of natural gas per annum.

The deposit is located on the premises of a joint project area – Płotki in Wielkopolska within Śrem-Jarocin licence. It was discovered by Chwalęcin-1K well which final depth achieved 3050 m MD*. The works were performed from the end of April of this year.

– Wielopolska is considered as a one of the most promising areas of Poland in field of exploration of natural gas deposits. Positive results of the production test confirmed that our upstream strategy works. We have been increasing national reserves step by step what have a beneficial impact for Poland’s energy security – said Daniel Obajtek – President of the Management Board of PKN Orlen.

In the coming weeks PGNiG and Orlen Upstream, from the Orlen Group, will drill Komorze-3H/S1 well together. In addition, both companies prepare for development of Miłosław deposit which was discovered in May 2017. Finalisation of the investment and commencement of extraction are planned for the turn of the 2nd and 3rd quarter of 2019. PGNiG, which is an operator on the Płotki project, holds 51% of shares. Orlen Upstream performs a role of partner with the remaining part of shares.
