There will be no new increases in energy prices in 2020

The President of Energy Regulatory Office(ERO) refused to approve changes to electricity sales tariffs in force until the end of this year. The decisions relate to four companies that act as office sellers: PGE Obrót, Tauron Sprzedaż, Enea and Energa Obrót.

In the opinion of the President of the Office, the current market situation does not justify increases in energy prices. The regulator’s decision means that four sellers will use current electricity prices in settlements with customers in households using the tariff offer (tariff groups G).

Tariff approval applications were received by the Energy Regulatory Office by the end of February 2020. PGE and Enea have applied for approval of new tariffs. Approved by the regulator in December 2019 and in January 2020, they had a validity period set until the end of March this year. On the other hand, Energa and Tauron requested changes to the current tariffs, which – in accordance with the decisions of the President of the Energy Regulatory Office from December 2019 – are binding until the end of 2020.

In the course of proceedings, entrepreneurs were asked several times to complete the documentation and to provide information aimed at determining whether the changes requested by the sellers are justified. – Tariff proceedings conducted by the President of the Energy Regulatory Office are aimed at ensuring that electricity prices proposed to end users will be reasonable and justified. Trading companies apply for the tariff level for the next period, providing the President of the Energy Regulatory Office with calculations and justification, which then analyzes in detail.
