Poland sent to Moldova six transport aircraft, two C-130 Hercules and four C-295 CASA, which will bring weapons, helmets, bulletproof vests and ammunition. The decision was made, because Russia is trying to destabilize the country with hybrid tactics.

“I have decided to hand over to the Moldovan police a huge shipment of weapons, ammunition and equipment, ” Poland’s Interior Minister Mariusz Kamiński said. On the day of Prime Minister Morawiecki’s visit to Chisinau, six Polish aircraft arrived in Moldova with equipment to help prevent attempts to destabilize the country.

On Thursday the Polish PM took part in the Second European Political Community Summit in Moldova. When the PM arrived in Chisinau, the head of the Interior Ministry announced Poland would provide support to the Moldovan services.

“An independent and sovereign Moldova, resisting attempts at internal destabilization, needs our support. That is why I decided to hand over to the Moldovan police a huge transport of weapons, ammunition and equipment from the services subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs,” Minister Kamiński tweeted.

Kamiński also tweeted that on Wednesday he put Ilan Şor, the leader of the pro-Russian ŞOR party, wanted in Moldova, on a sanctions list. This decision, together with the weapons delivery mark new steps in strengthening relations between Moldova and EU states.

At the same time, the attempts made by Russian intelligence to stir up the situation in Moldova have not abated. On Thursday, the head of the FSB was quoted by TASS as saying that “the West is actively pushing Moldova to join the conflict in Ukraine.”

Russia is responding in this way to Chisinau’s increased integration with Brussels. On Wednesday, the head of the European Commission noted that the country was making clear progress in its efforts to become a member of the community.
