Polish Briefing: Castoro 10 back at sea after a storm | The energy crisis threatens bankruptcy and poverty, says Morawiecki

What goes on in Poland on the 19th of October.

Castoro 10 resumed laying the Baltic Pipe after the storm

In the morning of October 18, the barge Castoro 10 resumed the laying of the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline after a few days’ break caused by a storm on the Baltic Sea.

For four days no work on the construction of the Baltic Pipe was carried out due to a heavy storm. In the last 24 hours, Castoro 10 had laid more than 830 meters of the gas pipeline, starting one kilometer off the Danish coast. The vessel is accompanied by anchors: Viking, En Avant 30, Martine P, Aileen P, research vessels Rimfaxe, Frederik and two supply vessels Siem Comander and Breamar.

Castoro 10 is to lay the 20 km shelf section of the Baltic Pipe in Faxe Bay. The laying of this section is expected to be completed at the end of October.
After completing this part, carrying out the so-called “golden weld” and pulling the pipes to the Danish shore, the entire construction of the Baltic Pipe in this section will be completed.

Morawiecki: Short-sighted policies take revenge. The energy crisis threatens bankruptcy and poverty

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, appeared in the European Parliament during the discussion on the dispute over the Court of Justice. However, he also talked about energy. He warned about the energy and gas crisis.

„We are on the verge of a gas and energy crisis. Rapidly rising prices, caused, among other things, by deliberate actions of Russian companies, are forcing businesses in Europe to either transfer production or transfer energy costs to consumers,” Morawiecki said. He warned about bankruptcies and poverty.

„It was Poland that promoted the Recovery Fund,” Morawiecki reminded. In his opinion, thanks to this fund, the energy transformation will be implemented with adequate support tools. „Today, when we see rising gas prices, we can witness how a short-sighted gas policy ends,” the Prime Minister said. In his opinion, Gazprom’s policy and the promotion of the Nord Stream 2 project are one of the reasons behind high gas prices in Europe.
