Polish Briefing: Coal phase-out in Poland until 2036?

According to BiznesAlert.pl Polish government wants to close down last coal power plant until 2036.

BiznesAlert.pl sources informed about a recovery plan for Polska Grupa Górnicza, the biggest coal company in Europe. It consists of closures in Kopalnia Ruda and Kopalnia Wujek, 30 percent decrease in wages and “fourteenth pay” benefit suspension for three years.  The plan is to be announced on Tuesday, 28 July 2020. PGG is in bad financial condition because of decreasing coal market value and lack of effectiveness.

BiznesAlert.pl sources state that government intends to close down the last coal mine in Poland until 2036. It does not mean that coal is not to be used after this date. If it stays in Poland’s energy mix, the only alternative are imports.
