Polish Briefing: It was Kaczyński who told Naimski he “blocked everything” | The last step before choosing a partner for Poland’s first NPP

What goes on in Poland on the 28th of July.

It was Jarosław Kaczyński who told Piotr Naimski he “blocked everything”

The head of Law and Justice (ruling party in Poland – ed.), Jarosław Kaczyński, admitted in an interview with Interia.pl that the former Government Plenipotentiary for Strategic Energy Infrastructure, Piotr Naimski, was dismissed because he blocked the Orlen-Lotos merger and other ideas in the energy sector. He did not specify what they were.

– Piotr Naimski had a tendency to block various things in the energy sector. He presented me with a concept that I found too anachronistic. It was not just my belief, but it has been the belief of many other people for a long time. I came to the conclusion that at the moment this cooperation ends as of today – Kaczyński told Interia.pl. –I know that Piotr excludes this at the moment, but if he wants to do other things within our camp, the government – he will have this possibility.

The last step before choosing a partner for the nuclear project in Poland

Despite the controversial resignation of Piotr Naimski, the General Director for Environmental Protection (GDOŚ) issued a notification that he asked the relevant authorities for opinions before issuing a decision on the environmental conditions for the construction of Poland’s first nuclear power plant. This decision precedes an agreement with a technology provider expected in 2022.

GDOŚ asked the head of the Maritime Office in Gdynia, the Pomeranian State Provincial Sanitary Inspector and the Regional Water Management Board for an opinion before making a decision on the environmental conditions for the construction of a nuclear power plant in the Lubiatowo-Kopalino location selected by the Polish Nuclear Power Plants responsible for the project.
