NABE is inching closer. The government informed companies about the terms and conditions

The State Treasury has offered Polska Grupa Energetyczna, Enea, Tauron and Energa proposals for non-binding documents summarizing the terms of the transactions to acquire coal assets in order to create the National Energy Security Agency (NABE).

PGE Enea, Tauron and Energa received proposals for non-binding documents summarizing the conditions for the acquisition of coal generation assets. “The document contains a proposal for the purchase price of shares in subsidiaries, key economic and legal conditions for the transaction, including the key provisions of the preliminary sales agreement and the promised sales agreement, as well as the proposed mechanism for settling intra – group debt,” said the Polish Electricity Association (PKEE).

The National Energy Security Agency is to be established on the basis of PGE Górnictwo i Energetyka Konwencjonalna and will take over coal production assets from state-controlled energy companies and lignite coal mines.

It is worth adding that each company received a different offer price for the sale of shares in subordinate companies and now the negotiation process will begin. NABE was supposed to be created by the end of March 2023, but the date has already been postponed several times.

Letter of intent on Central Hydrogen Valley signed

Today, the signing ceremony of the letter of intent on the creation of the Central Hydrogen Valley in Kozienice took place. Its task will be to integrate sectors, find business partners and optimize processes and costs.

On July 17, 2023, a letter of intent on the creation of the Central Hydrogen Valley was signed in Kozienice. “It is to be created by entities from the Świętokrzyskie, Łódź and south Mazovia voivodeships, and its goal is to integrate sectors, find business partners and optimize processes and costs,” according to the Polish Press Agency (PAP).

“If there is a time for hydrogen, it is now. Every Hydrogen Valley gives hope. It is good that Poland is taking such actions at this time and it is good that it is not alone, but in such an initiative as the Central Hydrogen Valley,” Minister Anna Moskwa said during a ceremony at the Kozienice power plant, owned by Enea Wytwarzanie.

She added that the Central Hydrogen Valley will connect the three provinces, and in the future it may be expanded thanks to the specific location in Kozienice. “I believe that eventually there will be more of them, because Kozienice has a specific location that facilitates such initiatives. Each Valley relies on the potential of its local industry, and here the gas potential is unique,” Moskwa pointed out.

Currently, there are seven hydrogen valleys in Poland (Lower Silesia, Masovia, Podkarpackie, Silesia-Lesser Poland, Pomerania, Greater Poland, West Pomerania) and one Central Hydrogen Cluster. The goal of hydrogen valleys is to integrate sectors, find business partners and optimize processes and costs.
