Polish Briefing: The Nord Stream 2 partner will design pumping stations for Baltic Pipe

What goes on in Poland on the 5th of February.

The Nord Stream 2 partner will design pump stations for Baltic Pipe

The German Uniper’s report shows that it was chosen by the Danish transmission network operator Energniet.dk for the delivery of a conceptual gas pipeline construction project for the needs of Baltic Pipe – reports the German company on one of the social networks. The piquancy of the matter is added by the fact that it is a company financially involved in competitive Nord Stream 2.

Due to their geographical location, they need six pumping stations in total, located in the mainland and on the islands. Existing gas infrastructure in Denmark allows the transmission of approx. 3 billion cubic meters of gas a year. Baltic Pipe is going to have a capacity of 10 billion cubic meters yearly, which is why the current gas infrastructure must be expanded.

The German energy company Uniper reported that it was chosen by the Danish transmission network operator, Energniet.dk, as the supplier of the gas pump station concept project on the island of Zealand. – We will take into account the required different operational conditions, a high degree of flexibility and energy efficiency – the company says.

Uniper is also one of the five companies that participate in the financing the Nord Stream 2 project and is Gazprom’s partner in implementation of this project.

The decision about nuclear energy depends on the government. Orlen will look at the costs

Will Orlen get involved in building the Polish nuclear power plant? Although the statement of the representative of PKN Orlen Mirosław Kochalski aroused great emotions, the company’s communique is cooling them down.

– We analyze all possible projects that may fit our strategy, naturally including the nuclear power plant project – said Kochalski to Reuters, quoted by the Polish Press Agency. According to BiznesAlert.pl information, the statement was taken out of context, and Orlen is actually looking at the energy generation sector as such. Because of it, it is important for the government to decide on the construction of a nuclear power plant.

– Projects such as the construction of a nuclear power plant in Poland require government’s decision and analysis carried out by individual companies. At PKN Orlen, we check all possible projects that may be a part of our strategy, including the project for the construction of a nuclear power plant. We realize the production and sale of electricity now, and at the same time we are looking at other solutions. However, it should be remembered that all projects carried out by PKN Orlen must undergo restrictive investment analyzes – the company’s press office informed us.
