Polish Briefing: PGNiG on LNG deliveries and Nord Stream 2

What goes on in Poland on the 15th of November.

Will PGNiG sue Nord Stream 2?

PGNiG is not afraid that Nord Stream 2 will avoid the provisions of the gas directive thanks to the actions of the Bundestag.

– It seems that due to the content of the third paragraph of the seventh article, we are on the safe side. There was a clause that before any derogation is granted to Nord Stream 2, the regulator must take into account security of supply and impact on the competitiveness of the neighboring countries market – said Piotr Woźniak, president of PGNiG. – This is a tracing paper that has been moved from another directive. If it is kept, we feel safe. In the case of OPAL, the lack of such analysis caused a clear response on our part – he reminded.

– If in our opinion (when implementing the gas directive in Germany towards Nord Stream 2 – editor’s note) an in-depth analysis of the impact on the market and security of neighboring countries is omitted, we reserve the right to take appropriate legal measures – concluded Woźniak.

US LNG deliveries to Ukraine

PGNiG Vice President Maciej Woźniak revealed that another LNG supply from the USA via Poland to Ukraine will reach the LNG terminal in November. – It is sailing to Świnoujście and will arrive there around November 19. It is connected with a contract for the Ukrainian group ERU Trading – admitted Woźniak. PGNiG supplies gas to Ukraine under a contract with private ERU Trading. Under the contract, it also supplies liquefied gas that reaches Poland, including from the USA.
