Polish Briefing: Poland and Germany will react to Skripal’s case. Lotos CEO dismissed

What goes on in Poland on the 21st of March.

Sanctions for Skripal? Morawiecki and Merkel announce the reaction of the European Union

Leaders of both countries took part in the joint conference after the talks of the German government delegation in Poland. They announced a firm reaction of the European Council to Russia’s aggressive policy. The United Kingdom accused Russia of attempting to murder its citizen with the use of a nerve-numbing nervous system.

– We were talking about the latest attack in Great Britain (attempted murder of Sergei Skripal – editor’s note). The European Union should give a firm and not only symbolic answer. We want the Council to refer to the Russian attack in the conclusions after the summit – said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

– We have jointly condemned the use of a paralyzing agent in the United Kingdom. We stand hand in hand with Great Britain. I talked to the Prime Minister (Theresa – editor’s note) May on this subject. I hope that we will adopt the appropriate conclusions during the Council summit – said Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The President of Lotos lost his position

Marcin Jastrzębski was dismissed from the position of the president of Grupa Lotos – the supervisory board announced in a statement. At the same time, they entrusted the duties of the President of the Board to Mateusz Aleksander Boniec.

The Council also delegated Piotr Ciach, vice-chairman of the company’s supervisory board, to temporarily perform the functions of a member of the board of the company for a period not longer than 3 months.

Jastrzębski was appointed to the position on January 12, 2017. Previously, he served as the president from November 2016, after recalling the previous president Robert Pietryszyn, who in turn managed the Gdańsk group for six months.

Jastrzębski has many years of experience in fuel companies; in the years 2006 – 2008 he was the vice president of strategy and operations of PERN “Friendship”, in 2006-2010 he was the president of the International Pipeline Enterprises Sarmatia. In the years 2013-2015 he was the president of Gazoprojekt.

Two weeks ago, the Lotos Group presented results for 2017. Its net profit was the highest in history and amounted to PLN 1.7 billion. Netia’s net debt at the end of the year fell from PLN 4,8 billion to PLN 2,5 billion.
