Polish Briefing: Poland rejects limits to gas consumption and is not worried of Russia stopping supplies to Germany

What goes on in Poland on the 26th of July.

Poland says “no” to the Commission in negotiations to limit gas consumption in Europe

– Poland definitely does not agree with the European Commission imposing reduction targets. We support voluntary targets in this regard, which cannot be imposed by EU regulations and decisions of the Commission – said Minister of Climate and Environment Anna Moskwa during a press conference.

The Minister of Climate and Environment reminded that Polish gas storage facilities were full, but this is not a standard situation in Europe. – The European Commission has proposed a gas solidarity mechanism. Poland has shown solidarity from the beginning of the war, we do not need it to be explained to us. What is not acceptable is an attempt to enforce gas reduction obligations. We can talk about voluntary saving mechanisms, as advised by the International Energy Agency. The Commission’s proposals were prepared in haste, other countries that are against these proposal are, among others, Spain, Greece or Cyprus – said Minister Moskwa. – Poland definitely does not agree with the European Commission imposing reduction targets. We support voluntary targets in this area that cannot be imposed by EU regulations and decisions of the Commission – she added.

Poland is not worried about Russia stopping gas supplies to Germany

Poland is not afraid of Russia stopping gas supplies to Germany, even if the reverse on the Yamal pipeline dries up.

– From the West, in the connections we have, in July and August there is more or less a day’s demand. Considering that our gas storage facilities are full and the Baltic Pipe will be ready in the fall, the closure of the western direction will have absolutely no impact on Poland’s gas security, said Minister of Climate and Environment Anna Moskwa at a press conference in response to the BiznesAlert.pl question.
