Due to the presence of mercenaries from the Wagner Group across the eastern border and recent reports of joint exercises with Belarusian forces, there are growing concerns about possible provocations on the border with Poland. To increase security, the Ministry of Defence decided to deploy additional forces on the eastern border.

The head of the Ministry of Defense announced that he decided to transfer soldiers from the 12th Szczecin Mechanized Division and the 11th Lubuskie Armored Cavalry Division to the east of the country near the Polish-Belarusian border.

“We know that the Wagnerites are in Belarus. The presence of the United States in Poland is the best method of deterring the aggressor. I want to emphasize strongly that the Polish Army is first to protect Poland. Hence my decision to send soldiers from the 12th Szczecin Mechanized Division and the 11th Lubuskie Armored Cavalry Division to the east of Poland to strengthen the border,” the Defence Minister added.

Gaz-System will add another power plant to its transmission network

Gaz-System received a location decision for the gas pipeline that will be connected to the combined cycle power plant in Rybnik. The project provides for, among others, the construction of a 4.5 km long pipeline, which will be connected to the planned Racibórz–Rybnik gas pipeline.

“The Silesian Voivode has decided about the location of a high-pressure gas pipeline to a modern combined cycle power plant in Rybnik. The project will build a gas pipeline with a length of 4.5 km and a diameter of 500 mm and a measuring station with a capacity of 160 thousand cubic meters per hour. The gas pipeline will be connected to the planned Racibórz–Rybnik gas pipeline,” reports Gaz-System.

The company will also build two connections: Kędzierzyn-Koźle-Racibórz with a length of about 37 km and Racibórz-Rybnik with a length of more than 38 km, which is part of the planned Racibórz–Oświęcim gas pipeline. They will connect the new gas-steam unit to the transmission network. These three projects are expected to provide a total of one billion cubic meters of gas a year for the needs of the combined cycle power plant in Rybnik.

The construction of the power plant in Rybnik is expected to be completed in 2026. Gaz-System notes that the unit will contribute to reducing emissions of the economy and improving air quality in the region. At the same time, it will create conditions for connecting new customers to the transmission network, especially from the electricity and heating sectors.
