What goes on in Poland on the 11th of May.

Poland talks with Nigeria about oil supplies

Deputy Minister of Development and Technology Grzegorz Piechowiak met with the Ambassador of Nigeria in Poland. One of the main topics of the meeting was energy cooperation, including the possible increase in oil purchases in Nigeria.

This is yet another meeting of Minister Piechowiak with representatives of Nigeria in the last few months. The previous one was held in Dubai during the Poland-Africa Economic Forum.

Apart from the issue of diversifying oil supplies to Poland, the discussions focused on green technologies and Polish investments in Nigeria.

Poland may increase the capacity of the FSRU to help Ukraine

Poland is in talks with Ukraine about broadly understood energy connections and is ready to increase the planned capacity of the floating liquefied gas terminal (FSRU) in the Gdańsk region, said Minister of Climate and Environment Anna Moskwa.

“We are in dialogue with Ukraine on the subject of broadly understood energy connections. At this point we don’t know whether it will be a Polish-Ukrainian gas connection, or any other details. We are analyzing these possibilities,” Moskwa said during a press conference. She added that the synchronization of the Ukrainian power system with the European system “creates new challenges”. “What we definitely want to do is increase the capacity of the FRSU terminal, which was planned at 6 billion cubic meters. We mainly receive requests to increase the capacity of this terminal from the south, so we are ready to increase that,” indicated the minister.

“We take Ukraine’s appeal for help in terms of energy security seriously. We are ready to provide Ukraine with uninterrupted fuel supplies. Poland has been supporting Ukraine on the international forum from the first day of the war. We are in constant contact with the Ukrainian ministry and we are one of the countries from which fuel supplies to Ukraine are carried out. Currently, Ukraine is fully integrated with the European energy system. I would like to congratulate Ukraine on professional management of energy security and fuel supplies in times of war. Poland has been participating in this process from the very beginning,” Moskwa said during the conference.
