What goes on in Poland on 4th of February?

There will be a state telecom operator

The Act on the Cybersecurity System in Poland is to be amended to establish a state-owned telecom operator which is to supervise 5G development.

The new state-owned operator will be allowed to pay for using commercial infrastructure provided by commercial operators. Companies perceived as a threat to state cybersecurity will be labeled as high risk providers, and have a limited access to 5G-related contracts. There are discussions about the possible role of China’s Huawei, which has been accused by the U.S. of stealing data.

Four potential nuclear power plants localizations

According to Business Insider, the Polish Energy Strategy until 2040 takes into consideration four possible localizations of future nuclear power plants. The first reactor is to be built in 2033.

Two out of the four possible places are located in Pomerania – Lubiatowo-Kopalino or Żarnowiec. The third one – near the old lignite power plant in Bełchatów, and the fourth close to Konin, another lignite basin.
