The act on offshore to be discussed in Sejm this week
Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment, Ireneusz Zyska, emphasized during the Energy Trends conference that the offshore wind energy act will go to the Sejm this week, after it has been approved by the Council of Ministers.
By 2040, offshore wind farms may reach the power level of 11 GW. According to estimates, this potential in the Polish economic zone of the Baltic Sea exceeds 20 GW. – We are currently focusing on creating the regulatory environment. This week, after being adopted by the Council of Ministers, we want to pass the offshore act to the Sejm, said Minister Zyska. The document is to be adopted by the Parliament in November, signed by the President of the Republic of Poland in December, and is to start operating at the beginning of 2021.
In the latest, third version of the draft act on support for offshore wind energy, in the first phase of the system operation, for farms with a total installed capacity of 5.9 GW, aid will be granted by way of an administrative decision by the President of the Energy Regulatory Office. The possibility of entering this system ends on June 30, 2021, which results from EU regulations on state aid. Such a mechanism will still require the consent of the European Commission. In the following years, support will be granted in the formula of competitive auctions.
