The Poland-Slovakia gas pipeline is officially open
The official inauguration of the Poland-Slovakia Gas Pipeline took place in Strachocin, Sanok poviat, Podkarpackie Province. The ceremony was attended by, among others, prime ministers of both countries and presidents of companies responsible for the implementation of the project.
– I am glad that this strategically important investment was completed on time and on budget. This gas pipeline proves that north-south connections can strengthen security in the Three Seas countries. I would like to thank Prime Minister Heger for his personal involvement in the construction of the North-South Corridor. This interconnector complements a number of investments made on the Polish side. In the last five years, we have built 860 km of gas pipelines from north-west Poland to the south-east part. This is the pipeline for peace and security, unlike the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines, which turned out to be the pipelines of war. They led to today’s crisis. Historically high gas prices are proof of the failure of Germany’s energy policy, said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
The next speaker was the Prime Minister of Slovakia Eduard Heger: – Russia’s unprecedented, brutal invasion of Ukraine has shown that it cannot be treated as a partner. Russia, apart from invading Ukraine, has declared a hybrid war on the European Union. One of the elements of this war is the energy sector, where preparations for the strike have been carried out since last year, starting with emptying and not filling Gazprom’s gas storage facilities in Europe, he said.
Prime ministers of Poland, Denmark and the Baltic states to discuss energy on Bornholm
Mateusz Morawiecki will go to the island of Bornholm to meet the heads of governments of Denmark, Estonia, Finland and Latvia, the president of Lithuania and the head of the European Commission (EU). The main topic of the talks will be greater integration of energy systems in the region.
– The main topic of the conversation will be greater integration of energy systems in the region. This is related to the current energy security situation and the will of countries to refrain from importing fuels from Russia, said Polish government spokesman Piotr Müller.
