What goes on in Poland on the 30th of June.

The US will locate the NATO headquarters in Poland

Joe Biden announced at the Atlantic Alliance summit in Madrid that the United States would locate its troops in Poland. The United States will establish the permanent headquarters of the United States Army V Corps. This will become the framework of NATO’s assumptions, for which Poland had requested from the beginning of the threat from Russia. Increasing NATO forces on the eastern flank is a response to the actions of Vladimir Putin and his subsequent hostilities in Ukraine.

Jakub Kumoch, advisor to the President of the Republic of Poland, told Reuters that it was a success after many years of negotiations. As he emphasized, it required consistency and long talks.

The government withheld the commitments signed under the KPO

Onet found analyzes confirming that the government withheld its obligations under the National Recovery Plan (KPO). The ministries did not know about many “milestones”, including tax on internal combustion vehicles and the registration fee for high-emission cars, amendments to the rules of the Sejm or raising the retirement age.

The European Commission has published a document that describes all the milestones that the government has committed to under the National Recovery Plan. In May, the European Commission granted Poland a subsidy for reconstruction after the pandemic, but the money is to be paid out after meeting certain conditions. Onet’s findings show that the ministers of Solidarity Poland and Law and Justice were not aware of what reforms the EU requires from Poland. Onet has reached analyzes that confirm that in the list of so-called milestones presented in April 2021, the majority of the Polish government’s commitments included in the EC annex did not appear. These include raising the retirement age, a tax on internal combustion cars or changing the rules of the Sejm.
