Up to twelve American small modular reactors for Poland’s copper giant

Polish copper company KGHM is to make a deal with American NuScale Power on the construction of four small modular reactors in Poland with an option of 12 units with total installed capacity of 1 GW.
KGHM and NuScale Power are to announce on 14th of February a deal on providing SMR technology and four reactors which are to support KGHM installations with zero-emission energy in line with this company’s climate policy.

„As part of the cooperation the plan is to design and build four small modular reactors – SMRs, with an option to expand to 12, with installed capacity of about 1 GW. This is potentially the largest investment of this type in the world,” said Jacek Sasin, Minister of State Assets in an interview with BiznesAlert.pl.
