There will be no strike in Sierra Gorda

KGHM came to an agreement with the trade unions in the Sierra Gorda mine in Chile.

– Many years of experiences in dialogue with trade unions on various continents pays dividends. We treat employees with respect, and we develop solutions that are good for the entire company. Employees value this attitude, said Marcin Chludziński, the President of KGHM Polska Miedź SA in BiznesAlert.pl. – I do not hide, that there was a risk of strike. We have defused it, coming to an understanding, he assured.

The three trade unions operating in Sierra Gorda have signed an agreement that will be valid for the next three years. The Chilean law guarantees trade unions the possibility of renegotiating a collective agreement. KGHM informed that it operates in cooperation with Sumitomo Metal Mining and Sumitomo Corporation, who co-own the mine.
