The first location for the nuclear power plant is no longer controversial, with only the tight schedule causing sleepless nights for future builders. The competition for the second location is ongoing, as the focus shifts to reactor prices – writes Wojciech Jakóbik, editor-in-chief at BiznesAlert.pl.

US nuclear reactor designer Westinghouse has selected seven Polish suppliers to support the construction of Poland’s first nuclear power plant. This is one of the stages of preparation for the implementation phase of the project. Polish companies will also help Americans abroad.

The Earth Society has released the contents of the justification for the Internal Security Agency’s (ABW) negative opinion on the construction of small nuclear reactors.

The agreement has been signed. A Training Centre for Clean Energy Technologies will be established under the auspices of Poland and the USA. The Americans are set to share their knowledge on nuclear energy during the construction of the nuclear plant in Pomerania, while also aiming for another location.

Korean universities have established cooperation with the University of Warsaw in order to create a European Training Center for personnel in nuclear energy. The project will be implemented with the participation of KHNP.

According to Dziennik Gazeta Prawna (DGP) daily, the new government may seek cooperation with France in the construction of a second nuclear power plant in Poland.

„A report is being prepared on the benefits that the construction of the nuclear power plant in Pomerania will bring to the Polish economy. It will be made available to the public soon,”  promised Mirosław Kowalik, president of Westinghouse Polska, in an interview with BiznesAlert.pl.

During the Baltic Nuclear Energy Forum in Gdańsk Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Climate and Environment Miłosz Motyka explained the schedule of the Polish Nuclear Energy Program (PPEJ). „The update of the Polish Nuclear Energy Program (PPEJ) is expected by the end of this year,” he said.

The Pomeranian Regional Office in Gdańsk supports the project of the first nuclear power plant and hopes for fruitful consultations with residents. The local government emphasizes that the investment is an opportunity for the development of the entire  Pomerania.
