On January 6th 2021, the Danish Energy Agency (DEA) received an updated schedule for the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. Meanwhile, Akademik Cherskiy reached the construction zone on the border of the German and Danish exclusive economic zones (EEZ).
A spokesman for the Danish Energy Agency, Ture Falbe Hansen, said in an interview with BiznesAlert.pl that on January 6, the Agency received an updated construction schedule from the investor, i.e. from Nord Stream 2 AG. The document is required in accordance with the construction permit issued by DEA.
According to the DEA spokesman, the laying of the gas pipeline in the Danish EEZ will start on January 15, 2021, according to the schedule.
Akademik Cherskiy dropped the anchor 5,5 nautical miles (10 km) south of the Nord Stream 2 route. It is accompanied by several support units, including Errie and Umka. The research vessel Murman, which, according to the navigation announcement, from January 15th along with the Fortuna barge, is to carry out construction work in the Danish EEZ, is carrying out inspection work on the completion of one of the gas pipeline lines near Bornholm.
In early December, the vessel, along with several others, was at anchor for four days in the Polish economic zone, 14 nautical miles from the coast. Later the ship returned to the waters of Konigsberg.
The barge Fortuna, after completing a 2.6 km section in the German EEZ, called at the port of Wismar. It is unclear whether the vessel will continue construction despite the Danish navigational warning or Akademik Cherskiy will do so.
